The U-B Did It Again

March 28, 2007

Edit (29 March 07, 9:44PM PDT): The U-B printed a correction in today’s paper. After I emailed the editor about it. (It probably would have helped if the photographer had had a notebook on hand at the event.)

They have a knack for messing things up. They tell the wrong people’s names in local sports photos, and now this.

U-B's Little Mix-up

In case you can’t read the text, it says:

“…above the winning t-shirt design for the stampede was designed by Walla Walla High School student Andrew Bell. Below, Assumption fourth-grader Kristopher Arellano had the winning design for the Nite Glow T-shirt.”

They mixed it up. The forth grader did the one in the above image, and I did the Niteglow (which they officially spelled wrong.)

First Look

Niteglow 2007 Logo - NavyNiteglow 2007 Logo - Black

So here they are. Your first look at the Walla Walla Balloon Stampede Wildhorse Niteglow Show 2007 logos (with protective watermark added). It is on navy officially, but it looks particularly striking against black. I’ll tell how it was done with only Inkscape and Paint.NET tomorow!

Tomorrow

March 26, 2007

I just got a huge item on my “I WANT IT!!!!11!!!” list. Adobe CS3 is going to be announce tomorrow. It now encompasses Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, and much more! If only I had $1000 (for the student discount version).

In other news tomorrow or (more likely) Thursday, I will be doing a ginormous blog post about how I made the niteglow logo. Plus it will have it’s internet debut.

P.S. I got a mention on the balloon stampede website!!! Hooray! I’ll upload the logo tomorrow just before leaving for the Kick Off party, so I have it first (hopefully). I’ll also have some exclusive other background color versions. (All niteglow logos are copyright 2007 Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce. Used by permission of them [sort of].)

Quick edit: added the url for the stampede.

Portfolio

March 18, 2007

I haven’t blogged in over two months. But I haven’t had much to say. I haven’t been doing nothing though. I was building a portfolio. As in: I have created a logo that will actually be published. I made the Walla Walla Balloon Stampede Niteglow Show 2007 (Sponsored by Wildhorse Resort and Casino) Logo.

For the geeks out there: I created it using only Inkscape and Paint.NET.

After the unveil later this month I’ll put it up and write a detailed post on the process I went through to create it.

By the way: buy the shirts!

Pullin’ a Late Nighter

January 12, 2007

Right now I’m working on my big paper that’s due tomorrow. Boy, it sure is fun putting things off until the last minute.
My advise: don’t wait ’till the last second. It cause nothing but pain and lack of sleep.

Weekend Fun Coming Tomorrow!

September 7, 2006

Sorry about the lack of promised posts. School kink of snuck up on me and then proceeded to hit me over the head. Hard. So tomorrow I’ll be writing one of the posts I wanted to write last week. It’s going to suck away your weekend, so be prepared to clear your schedule. Also, hope you have enjoyed KoL! (If you followed my advice last post.)

It Beginneth

August 28, 2006

Audible sigh. School begins on Wednesday. Today I (started) cleaning my room. I just don’t have anything cool to write about today (mainly because I don’t have the time). However, tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday I’ve got things lined up. I just have to sit down and type. Friday is the Fair, so I’ll be having way too much fun to blog anything.

The hottest think on the RSS feeds I track today is a new Weird Al Yankovic song entitled “Don’t Download This Song.” Satirical. Check. Slams the RIAA (indirectly). Check. It’s a winner! It’s hilarious because it paints song downloading from P2P songs as a gateway crime to robbing stores, selling drugs, and running over children. But if you don’t buy your songs, how are artists supposed to buy more solid gold cars and diamond-studded swimming pools? Frankly it’s hilarious! You can download it at either of the sites below:

Download.com Music (claims it’s exclusive to them) (Edit: Found out that this is the better quality version)

Weird Al’s MySpace Page

Woot-Off!

August 18, 2006

By the way, we are currently in the middle of a Woot-Off! This is where woot.com sells a bunch of stuff at great prices in a small period of time, rather than the normal one item per day once they’re gone they’re gone fashion. Check it out, they normally sell for lower than comparison shopping sites show as the lowest price.

Welcome

August 18, 2006

Welcome to the obligatory welcome message! This blog is going to be my main blog. What Blogger is adding is too little, too late. WordPress is just better. So this is going to be it! And I’m going to try to be a better blogger!
